WCEF2026 Accelerator Session: Driving a circular economy in India: The Fundamentals, Partnerships and Collaborative Action

Session Date: Thursday, 17 September 2026  |  Time: 15:00 to 16:30 hours  |  Venue: Patola Hall, Hotel Grand Mercure, Gandhinagar
About the Session

As businesses face increasing resource constraints, climate risks, evolving regulations and market expectations, circularity is becoming a strategic driver for competitiveness, resilience, and long-term growth. Yet, achieving circularity at scale requires moving beyond recycling and isolated pilots towards embedding circular principles across products, value chains, and business models. With the policy landscape evolving both in India and many parts of the globe to encourage the transition, businesses have a unique opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and build resilient circular value chains.

CII advances India's circular economy through policy advocacy, knowledge leadership, capacity building, and industry collaboration. Drawing on cross-sectoral experience, this session will showcase industry-led circular solutions, scalable public–private partnerships, and innovative business models while addressing the key enablers for accelerating the global circular economy transition.

Key questions to be explored:
  • What are the critical pillars for circular economy transition?
  • What role do reverse logistics and new business models play in scaling circular value chains?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities involved in adopting and practicing circular economy principles in the Global South?
